Prerequisites: The Masterclass course builds on Writing course I & II
Certification: Your assignments and the course will be graded: Completed or More work required. When all required course work is completed, you will automatically receive an online course certificate.
Course description: The Masterclass course is geared toward the more seasoned language user, writer, or author, with a good grasp of language who still requires an introduction to techniques and tools that are useful in larger projects. The course includes collections of short stories, novels and larger prose texts. There is a significant amount of homework, and the feedback is more detailed than in writing courses I and II.
The first unit asks: when are we doinig well enough? You are also challenged to share your thoughts about an old poem and describe the main character you will use in this course.
Unit two is titled: Engulfed. What is it that makes us forget time, place and ourselves when we read a good book? You are challenged to reflect on what it means to be engulfed, and the assignment theme is you your main character’s Shanghai dream.
The third unit focusses on the challenges the author faces when the main characters have their own thoughts. You are challenged to share your reflections on where knowledge comes from. In the assignment, your main character has to make a decission based on last nights dream.
Unit four focusses on the angle of the story, how we for example can use a letter or a diary to share the story from different angles.The assignment allow you to use various angles to tell your main character’s experiences with a personal adverticement.
The final unit strenghtens your eye for detail. It shows how you can focus on details to add something important or special to your story. In the assignment you will elucidate two people’s personalities by describing their clothes and belongings.
